Wanna new car? - catsdad
While I am sure there are unsold cars sitting in car parks the article is overstating the case I reckon. Some of the examples are docks so these cars are presumably in transit, not stockpiled. Also with over a million cars produced every week worldwide there will be a million or two in the supply chain and parked up. Having had 10 or so new company cars in the last twenty years I have never had one that on checking the seat belts dates and plastic date stamps was unduly old when I received it. No doubt there are examples of long laid up stock but I would be very surprised if it's the norm. I will be interested at the longest laid up new car backroomers can come up with.

I have noticed more manufacturers are discounting, but there is still a decent size market for budget new cars.

Dacia have not got this market to themselves and do not offer alot of choice (no LCV option, no MPV option, no big saloon/hatchback estate option in the UK).

oldest new car had to be a Nissan Serena.

Was newly registered to me in september 1st 1996, had stamps all over it from 1994.

Suppose it had sat around for upto 18 months.

youngest new car was a nissan note, had stamps and dates from late June, purchased it new and registered 1st september.

I suppose it helps having the factory in the same country.
