Vecrta C 1.8 Club 2003 Manual - Cruise Control Fault - wellman

I have owned the above vehicle from new and it has now covered 63800 miles. Some weeks ago the cruise control system stopped working and I have been told the most likely cause is a weak brake pedal return spring and that as a first step this should be replaced and is a simple job to do.However looking in the Haynes manual there is no information or illustrations as to where the spring is located.

Can anyone advise, is it in the cabin area or somewhere under the bonnet and is it a simple job to do ?

Many thanks Wellman

There will be switches on both the brake and clutch pedals, (the latter applying if the car is fitted with manual transmission), and both need to be functioning correctly for the cruise control to work. This is the first place to check. Make sure they switch properly on and off as the pedals are depressed and released.
