Peugeot Citroen to axe 19 models - groaver

They'll milk the DS range to death now.

It's all about heritage and added "quality" these days.

Peugeot seems the weaker make to me at the moment.

I’ve said for years the PSA product line-up is a pig’s ear – neither brand knows whether it’s a value or premium brand, both Peugeot and Citroën sell budget and premium models with crossovers at various points in the range. At the bottom-end Citroëns are the cheapy cars, Peugeot Citroën then compete with each other in the mid-range, further up, Citroën become the premium models and then Peugeot have an expensive Coupe plonked at the top of the PSA price structure!

Peugeot should be a low budget brand to compete with the likes of Dacia, Citroën being the premium versions of the various platforms. Something everybody can understand. Sure there will be some upset Peugeot die-hards that rememebr when Peugeot were this that or the other - tough - Citroën made the Goddess - and that's a good enough reason to be top of the PSA pile!

Honestly, I don't know how these board members earn their crust half the time - the boards seem to be filled with idiots.

Same could be said of Hyundai / Kia

Kia was meant to be the sporty brand but they put a Hyundai badge on the velostar and the new 7 seated sedona will only wear a kia badge.

Citroen/Peugeot could be on to a real winner if it sold basic versions of its MPV van range.

Dacia hasn't really hit this market yet, there is a significant demand for budget people carriers.

I'm told Renault UK is desperate for Renault group to sell right hand versions of the Dokker and Lodgy.

They can see a market that remains unfulfilled.

As someone who has bought quite a few Peugeots, i am not bothered if the cars they make have a Lion or a Chevron on them, as long as they start making cars that drive well again. Have they made anything really good since the 406?

I've never fully understood why Peugeot and Citroen built what was essentially the same car with subtle body differences on 2 production lines to compete with themselves (I'm thinking the old SAXO - Pug 106 plus some of the other models they did that were based on the same running gear and made for the same price point).

There is enough manufacturers out there to compete with, Without competing with yourself.

I'm even more staggered that Toyota shared the Aygo platform with PSA, lending them a totally reliable small car with almost unburstable and reliable mechanics.

Seeing how many have sold i wonder if Toyota regretted this.

DS as a luxury brand.

It took Toyota about 10 years to establish itself - and that is with unbeatable relaibility 1st for years in the JD POwers.

Maybach ? tried and failed..

Ford? Tried and failed (Ghia)

GM: Cadillac outside teh US? failure in Europe.

Given PSA's last attempt - the Citroen C6 - was notorious for faults, I'd give PSA 25 years.. and no chance of success based on current reliability...

Well my DS5 is now just over a year and 30k miles old. Still wows everyone who gets in it with very perceived style and quality.

Being honest about the above, don't want any of them!
