Until recently I had a 1.4TDi 80 Roomster which I owned for under five years; nothing went wrong with the engine, and the economy was outstanding. However, in hindsight I would have gone for the 1.9 as while the performance was adequate, the 1.9 offers more power especially at lower revs, and less vibration at idle.
Non-engine related, but the a/c on my Roomster never cooled that well despite regassing a number of times; an intercooler hose also went wrong twice despite having it fixed at the Skoda dealer (prob due to them not fixing it properly the first time). I do miss the space and flexibility of the Roomster compared to my Kia.
