Mitsubishi Shogun - Drivers door jammed open - chrismid
My drivers door jammed open when fully extended, heard something drop down inside, and had to force it shut. It makes a clonking sound when shutting. Can open enough to get in and out but only just!

Hi, should be door open limiter bar between hinges of door, the bar should be greased and goes between 2 sprung bars bolted to door, the part of bar inside door has probably snapped off, when they do that the bar comes away from door and prevents door from closing as it jams between A pillar and door, but bar is held on with sprung pin or cotter pin, it may have damaged paintwork

I'm guessing, but check-straps wouldn't usually 'drop down inside' unless one end has come loose or a pin has fallen out of it. Have you checked for that? Had the door caught a gust of wind or suffered some other injury?

Just a thought - does the electric window on that door work properly without any unusual noise, jerking or banging?

I have an L200, the front end, doors etc are same/similar to the Shogun. The bottom rail pulled off the window glass because the window runners were sticky, and I heard a loud bang as the gubbins dropped into the bottom of the door.

It's possible on yours that it is jamming the door check.

Remove the door card and waterproof membrane and you should be able to see what is going on.

I have exactly the same problem on my 2 year old ASX. I replaced the strap for about £22 but the door itself is slightly damaged due to trying to force it to close.Mitsubishi say they have never heard of such a fault and deny any responsibility under warranty. :-(
