The words palms and oil have been associated with car of the year type awards, especially in France & Germany, in the past.

The record going back 40 years or so shows that motoring journlaists are associated with bad judgement on an epci scale:

eg Chevrolet Volt

Renault Meganne

Insignia

Fiat Bravo

to name but a few lemons,..

And it all depends what else was eligible in the year - how you compare Marc S Class and a 308 I have no idea!

I think the estate / SW is a better looker.

This award i regard in the same way as a car recommendation by Clarkson, anything approved by them i would avoid like the plague.
