can the start/stop system be activated as I would assume it's just a software issue.

I think you need to re-phrase the question !

Do you mean de-activated ?

is it already fitted or do you mean aftermarket retrofitted ?

If it has it fitted it can normally be switched off, if you mean de-activated ?

if it hasnt got it fitted its much much more than just software to be activated !

or do you mean it has stop start & its not working !

I mean can it be activated as i would assume that it's in there some where as you need to press the clutch to start it and all engines are the same apart from software.(if it hasnt got it fitted its much much more than just software to be activated !)

A stop start system is much more than just software. Major components won't be the same.

Vehicles fitted wiith Stop/Start have different Alternators and batteries to their non-stop/start counterparts. Probably other differences as well, the starters may wel be heavy duty.
