SEAT Alhambra - 6'6" restriction and large MPVs - JimmyV

I have seen Alhambra is more than 10 centimeters narrower than the VW Sharan even though both considered almost same. Both being large MPVs I am wondering will Alhambra go through 6'6" width restricted roads? If so, it can access more roads than Sharan and Galaxy.

The Sharan and the Alhambra are identical vehicles (as was the old Galaxy if you are refering to the early incarnations. The 10cm is probably a typo or alternatively haw different makes measure. Best thing to do is go onto car lot and take measurements yourself, the widest point is across the mirrors in all cars.

For the current model, post-2010, the Sharan brochure quotes 2081mm, the Alhambra brochure quotes 1904mm.

They are both 2081 with mirrors or 1904 without (i.e. if you can get the mirror over the top of the restriction).

If you like, I'll go out when my wide gets back and see what difference folding the mirrors makes.

Just be aware that the 2m restriction (6'6") tends to be used whenever it's narrower than 2.75m (9'0") so some narrow roads are easy to get through but others are a PITA.

My Santa Fe is 1.890m excluding mirrors and I've struggled on a couple of country roads where the stone walls lean inwards !

Hmmm, my tom tom has taken me quite a few times through the narrow roads and it was pretty tight on my mazda 6,, so it should be nearly 2 meters. If I cant go through 2 meters it is a deal breaker for a large MPV for the next purchase.

2104mm - 90 - 90 == 1924mm, which is a fag paper under 6'4".

It'll go through a 6'6" gap, with the mirrors folded in. Whether it will go through a gap signposted as 6'6" is another matter.
