Lexus RX450h - Satnav problems - Praia

I purchased this vehicle from new in March 2013 and in August noted that the Satnav cursor had developed an annoying and irregular habit of diverging from the actual location of the vehicle as it was being driven. Divergences of 200+ metres were observed putting the vehicle on other roads, railway lines etc and when using guidance requesting the driver to make turns that did not exist. The cursor would usually reset to the actual position within a quarter to half a mile of travel. Intially my Lexus dealer advised that they a) could not replicate the fault and b) had not seen such a fault reported globally and therefore they could do nothing! Howeve when delivering a courtesy vehicle (a brand new RX450h) to my house, some 4 months after I first reported the fault and several times that the car had been in the workshop, they witnessed the same fault occur.

Despite significant involvement of my Lexus dealer and Lexus GB they cannot source the cause of the fault and it is now in the hands of Lexus Europe.

Has anyone else experienced this fault?

In the meantime, use a map. Sound like a luddite .. but I like tradition. Plus many places are giving away maps!

Maps don't show POI, traffic levels and road closures. It is just a bit of paper with coloured lines and usually a few years out of date.

Like all satnav mapping is up-to-date - NOT!

It costs me £10 to buy a new road atlas each year - how much is the annual update fee for built-in satnavs.
