Skoda, Seat, Hyundai - Car dealerships - nowhere to park - RichT54

I recently thought I would start looking at some new cars. However, I am amazed at the number of dealerships that cram their forecourts so full of cars there is nowhere to park. Often these dealerships are located on industrial estates that have nowhere to park nearby either.

I know they need to keep a reasonable amount of stock on site to attract customers, but it defeats the object if the customer can't park anywhere nearby. Perhaps they only want to sell to people who don't already have a car!

No problem at my Hyundai dealer - I see more problems at "premium" dealers

I was decorating (paint splatterd jeans/t-shirt/slippers) and took my daughter to pick up her new MX5 in my ancient, old-style Panda. Young salesman said 'you can't park that there'.

Oh what fun I had, starting with chucking the keys at him 'park that for me then boy'.

Love the story, wish I could have seen his face.

Don't judge a book by its cover! A relative of mine sells luxury cars and one day he approached a bloke in the showroom that all the other sales staff were avoiding. He said the man looked so unkept that he could have been homeless, however he found him really interesting to speak to and very well mannered. Eventually the talk came round to cars and the chap said that he wanted to buy "a lot of them, all the same spec".

It turned out that the chap owned a small football club (and was also a very wealthy business man) that had done really well in a cup competition, beating several well known league teams. He then proceeded to buy at least 11 (possibly 15) new cars, much to the delight of my relative and the dismay of his fellow salespeople.

This is an absolutely genuine story that happened maybe 10 years ago.
