Corrosion Audi A3 8P Doors

Corrosion Audi A3 8P Doors - A3 A4

Has anyone experianced corrosion on the doors of their 2003-2006 A3 8P hatch.

Mine is showing it in three places on one door, its where the plastic strip is bolted to the door. The corrosion seems to start around the bolts, the front and rear ones are visible. Just had mine inspected by an local dealership who took measurements of paint thickness and pictures and has prepared a report for Audi.

He didn't seem to optimistic of them accepting the claim, it would be helpful to know if this is a one off or a known problem.

Just googling it throws up a fair amount of similar problems - here's one where its a bit more advanced than yours perhaps -

You have a 12 year anti perforation warranty which Audi will likely say doesn't cover you but lots of people have managed to get their VAG cars repaired with a 100% contribution where they have shown it to be a manufacturing fault. I did with a Passat but it took time and effort and they told me they paid because the car had a full VWSH with inspections and I had brand loyalty to them (I had Skodas in the past - should have stuck with them!)
