It's very noticeable that around N Hants the white line markings are deteriorating to such an extent that at night they are practically invisible. Centre markings and in some places junctions have alost disappeared, is it just round here or are other places the same?

It's not only in your area that things have deteriorated. A few weeks ago a lorry overturned on a bend on the A6 next to Lyme Park, Disley, and shed its load. The load flattened the steel crash barriers and the stone wall behind. It also seems to have damaged the street lighting, probably by fracturing a lamp-post. After a month of un-necessary traffic lights the crash barriers have been replaced but the street lighting is still out. Also, the bollards and kerbs on several pedestrian refuges are so dirty that they can only be seen when driving right beside them. SWMBO remarked also that cats eyes seem to be going out of use. They are almost totally missing on that stretch of main road.

Maybe this is why people seem to "need" to fit ever brighter lights. I'll stick with my standard lamps though. I've found a way that obviates the need for super bright lights, I slow down a bit if I think I can't see.

Is there not an onus on the council to maintain road markings? If not, I think there ought to be, or prepare to defend the decision in court if they don't.
