The link refers to a crash where a new Range Rover (with just a broken headlamp) had the roof cut off, while the Peugeot 107 driver walked away.

Given relative sizes/weights/safety features, this seems a very unlikely result.

No common sense in Yorkshire

I refuse to believe the driver was injured from this very minor crash. With 3 tons of Rover to protect her plus state of the art safety equipment it is impossible to have sustained an injury - unless she is made of rice paper.

This is more likely a chance for compo not working out quite to plan.

Maybe 'against the run of play' but shows that you're not always safer in a 4x4.

Perhaps though the rangie's driver had a pre-exisiting back/neck condition which was triggered/worsened by the crash.

A great example of the hopeless nannying, risk averse, litigious-fearing mess of a society we have created for ourselves.

Was the Rangie driver wearing a seatbelt?

Lack of a seatbelt is a huge leveller, even in a 3 tonne SUV.

This kind of thing has happened before . A driver was shaken up in a bump and good samaritan helped them over to their own car to calm down and gather their thoughts. Rescue services then carried out one of their "a**e-covering risk assessments ( cos that's all they are really) and decided to cut off the roof of good samaritans car to remove shaken up casualty!!!! How pathetic is that?! I'm glad the government is supposedly tightening up on this clown-like situation we have with whiplash and the like.

Yeah it's things like that which will make me leave injured people in the middle of the road, unless the Fire Service wishes to pay for another Jaguar. Upgraded of course.
