A friend was badly injured recently receiving multiple fractures. As follows: Crushed pelvis, broken thigh, broken upper arm, broken rib, broken ankle and broken foot. Has had plates put in pelvis and thigh. I can't be any more precise as I have got the medical records, but would like a ball park figure for such injuries, perhaps a from- to.

Too many variables for a from/too but probably well norh of £100k if other part y 100% liable.

Needs a lawyer. If no access via AA/RAC, insurer or a Trade Union then one of the no win/no fee sharks.

Some sharks are less agressive for their users than others - Slater Gordon are well regarded by cyclists and are the 'house' lawyers for the CTC.

Was your friend a completely innocent victim? Assuming yes then he needs a good TP bodily injury solicitor like Thompsons. They will put a schedule together covering everything, plus some.

The injuries sound nasty. Apart from damages for the pain and suffering, there will be loss of earnings (assuming he/she worked), will they be able to carry on with the same pre accident employment (e.g. manual labour)?, operations needed in years to come?, were they a carer for someone? Plus loads of others depending on the individual circumstances. A proper TP BI solicitor is required.

Thanks people . Yes she was completely innocent. I'll pass on your info to her father who seems to handling that side of things.

I don't know what a TP solicitor is though.

TP = Third Party i.e. claimant. There are specialist solicitors out there that specialise in bodily injury claims. I'd suggest your friend does a bit of googling to find a well known one rather than just a firm of ambulance chasers. I assume the other side will be an insurance company who will be well experienced in defending themselves. You don't want the local, one man band solicitor who may not have the necessary experience.

Thank you very much

Make sure you note any external variables affected as already mentioned loss of earnings, missed holidays or paid events, pain and suffering etc. If physio is required the bills for that should be paid by a third party as well, if I remember rightly and if there's any damage for life (loss of movement etc) you could be looking at several 100k in my opinion.
