Vauxhall - Various - 29 Teeth on ABS Reluctor Ring - RaineMan

Yesterday it came to my attention that the ABS Reluctor Ring on my FWD Vauxhall has 29 teeth. This grates slightly against my engineering background which says 30 are more logical (360 degrees per rotation). Does anybody know why it has 29 teeth and not 30?

I don't think any one can answer that question. Some cars have different number of teeth front and back.Yours must be a old Vauxhall ,as abs systems no longer use a toothed ring as a reluctor.hth

Some manufacturers used 30 minus 1 =29.

I Googled a bit and found a Rover (400?) that could be either 45 or 43 teeth. To me 2329 or 43 teeth seem as inherently wrong as a V5 engine or a 4 stud five spoke wheel. So why these bizarre numbers?
