Kia Piccanto LS - Tyre Pressures - Ben.Clay

My neighbour (nice gent mid seventies) is routinely reinflating his tyres and assures me that it is normal for the Kia Piccanto wheels to loose 2 psi over 24 hours! This does not sound right to me, and I suspect he may have Kerbed the wheels and needs either new wheels or tyres or both. How do I get him to let me read his book to confirm what he genuinely thinks he has read? Or is it True?

Many thanks for any help.

Regards Ben.Clay

Total nonsense.

If they are alloy its probably corrosion between the wheel or the wheels have become porous. Doubt if he could have kerbed all 4 wheels enogh to cause the problem.

He needs to get the tyres removed and the wheels checked, a decent tyre place should have the expertise to diagnose the issues i.e. a big tub of water and look for bubbles. To have a 2psi drop evey 24 hours and do nothing other than pump the tyres up is totally irresponsible.

Get the tyres removed, checked and refitted with bead sealer, which many bona fide tyre fitting bays use nowadays, whether the bead sealing lands on the wheels are corroded or not.

I think he needs to ask Santa for a more accurate pressure gauge? Is he checking them hot or cold ?

The answer to the original question "How do I get him to let me read his book "? Ask him would be a good start.

Let's also hope he isn't just adding 2psi every time and the tryes aren't up to some awesome pressure and fit to pop.

Maybe he's just a bit fussy bordering on OCD, or maybe he wants a quarter hour peace and quiet from 'er indoors constant nagging.

He's not doing any harm nor hurting anyone else monitoring his tyre pressures, leave him be.
