seat leon se - climatronic doesnt heat - caeos

i have a 2000 leon se that has the climatronic ac unit.

apart from having major lcd bleed on the right covering the fan level etc, it also refuses to blow hot air.
everything else works fine.

suggestions and advice please

Assuming the heater matrix is getting hot there is probably a servo not operating the flap to direct the air to the relevant place.

Not uncommon on VAG heater units and can be a bit of a sod to get to.

You need to get the car plugged in with someone with the VAG software to get the fault codes from the climate unit to confirm which motor has gone.

Check the coolant circulation. Is the coolant level low or the heater matrix air-locked (try bleeding).

In the past have you ever used something like Radweld. As well as sealing up external leaks this type of product can block up a heater matrix.

Try feeling the water pipes in and out from the interiour heater - do they both get hot?

If it is one of the servo motors in within the heater or a blocked heater matrix then it is a dash out job.

Thanks for the responses.

i checked the heater matrix pipes and they are hot. there are no leaks from that and i didnt use radweld or similar.

Possibly a fault with the climate panel or hot/cold blend flap motor.A diagnostic check may point you in the right direction.May be worth disconnecting the battery for 10 mins to reset the system.hth

A new what? Panel?

Have you actually diagnosed that it is the control unit at fault? It is more likely the actual heater system the panel controls.

After fitting another one you might also need to code it to the features of your car and also do an adaption as otherwise it won't know where the start/stops of the stepper motors on all the flaps are.

If it is a used one then you might get lucky and it has similar coding.

To be honest, you really need the car plugged in and any error codes read from the current cliamtronic unit to check whether you're wasting your money or not.

all the pipes are hot into the bulk head, the existing panel has major bleed anyway so i can only read the temperature and not the right hand side fan levels etc.The heater matrix is clean. i can hear the fans adjust in speed and from feet to dash.
Plugging in will cost ££ anyway as i dont know anyone down the pub who has the kit!
