Vauxhall Astra G Diesel - Replacing whole door vs replacing glass and mirror - captainjon
Ive got a damaged front door with glass and mirror broken, paint scratched too. Is it easier to replace the whole door and swap the locks over, or replace the glass and mirror separately? The locks arent essential for me.

Much easier to replace the complete door.Un- bolt check strap,release wiring plug and knock out hinge pins.lift off door.hth

I assume you are going to leave the car open 24/7 I do not think the isurance company will be very happy with that situation..

i would take the door off and put the newer one back on. shouldnt take 24 hours?

But can you rely on a new door being a good fit? May need to play around with those hinge bolts to get it leaktight?

Depends whether they are solid or spring rollpins and how carefully you extract them. I got a Sykes Pickavant tool for the purpose but had previously managed with a stepped drift and hammer.
