Citreon C5 2004 VTR - C5 2004 Wont start - kaytoe

Have had my C5 since new 2004. I have NEVER had a single problem with it except the resale value. Lately it just wont start. Engine turns but no ignition. Diagnostics show zero problems. My mechanic thinks after hours of searching that its the fuel pump relay. Seems this relay is in a sealed unit in the fuse box. New one costs 600 from main dealer. cant locate a second hand one anywherte. The car will start sometimes but will let me down as quick in the worst places. Can anybody shed any light on this. Has anyone ever seen this problem before. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Presumably a Diesel or does no ignition mean no spark at the plugs? either way i'd get it trailered to either a Diesel specialist or make specialist indy as appropriate...either found by recommendation preferably.

Why can't your mechanic by pass the suspect relay by hot wiring the connections to confirm this part.

As an aside the quite frankly ridiculous cost of this moulded in relay only confirms why many modern mass produced cars are worth threepence on a good day once warranty has expired.

Assuming its a diesel does it have the 8 or 16 valve engine?
