Must be somewhere flat. London Taxis were tried in Sydney and they couldn't cope.

It'll depend which engine they've fitted - the TX has had so many different ones over the years.

despite the various problems with the latest cabs, the engine choice is essential

They couldn't cope with Sydney's steep hills. Most taxis are V6/V8. They don't notice hills and run on an LPG at a fraction the price of diesel/petrol!

New York has long used the Ford Crown Victoria as it's main taxi, I believe they're using the Prius now, running to 400k without incident.

New Yorks roads resemble bomb damage.

Nissan won an exclusive contract to replace the Crown Victoria and to supply New York with taxis based on the NV200 van. Although the exclusivity part of the contract has been challenged in the courts, Nissan expect to begin sales next month.

Nissan are also working on a version for London.
