Its kept the Chinese at bay.
Geely have put back UK expansion until 2015.

Are they really that good value?
You can get a 1.2 pre reg Alto, i10, 107 for the same money without the sack cloth and ashes appeal, and that's without shoping around.
Strikes me as one or two motoring commentators have hyped these up to where they don't really belong. After all, they're Renaults built on a shoe string budget, not critising Renaults, but they have a certain reputation.

I think the Sandero is far better value for money and quality (even in base form) than the Alto/Pixo which is a hiddeous car.
There a few things which appeal about the Sandero over what you have sugested
* its new
* you can extend the warranty to 7 years
* its based on the old clio which was probably the most reliable of the junk Renault produced in the late 90's /early 00's
* its got 5 doors
* the mid spec sandero costs £6,795 which would be cheaper than a £7,000 pre reg 107
* its on the bigger side for a small car
the Logan MCV is the best value IMO, to get a decent size estate, mid spec for £7,795 is excellent value.

Hmmm, some recommendation. It's the best car out of a pule of junk. Great.
That, and Dacia's poor showing in the TUV reports year after year, puts paid to the reliability aspect of these cars.

Warranty adds £850, so we're up to £7,600 and still no air con, alloys. You can get an i10 with 20 miles on the clock for £6600 (air con, alloys, 5 door, warranty) or a C1.
A hair shirt will do the job of covering you up, but it wouldn't be good to wear. I'm not saying they aren't any good, just that they seem to have been hyped like Mother Theresa was (and she was one mean nun).

Thing is theres lots pf people want to go back to basics, not everyone wants toys, they want a basically simple vehicle, that where Dacia is scoring.
We looked at Duster, not so convinced after seeing it in the flesh, will be following their long term durability with interest.

There are some already regretting buying a Duster. Water ingress and rust.

Problems with QC at the Indian factory I believe, I saw my first one on the road yesterday, the fronts OK but it looks like an abortion at the rear.
However the Sandero is a different beast and built in Europe and does look excellent value as long as you view it like a fridge and don't expect any trade in. I still prefer the MG3.
The Logan MCV looks an interesting vehicle as well.

Thought about one of these but got put off by the QC issues on other Dacias and the seriously longer than expected delivery times of other models such as Sandero and Stepway. Went to see and drive one in the flesh and thought £12k for a specced up with a big 7 year warranty is attractive but couldn't get comfy, fairly noisy at 70 mph, rock and roll handling (but felt safe.) So paid the extra money for a 1.6 tdci Mondeo estate with the extra room and entertaining ride. Think the Duster could be a pretty decent alternative to othe more expensive r SUVs

They must be doing something write,
after their own home manufactured cars (which they remain loyal to), the French have really taken to Dacia, they seem to be everywhere on my recent travels around France.
I had a chat to a mechanic I respect this week; he had a good look around a Logan MCV (estate) and was very impressed with the fit and finish.
