Is it possible to improve the rear suspension on my ix35, I think it is like a commercial van.

I have asked dealer to check and thay say there is no problem.

What specifically don't you like about it? Is it different to your test drive?

Ensure that tyre pressures are set correctly, probably a sticker on the B-post driver's side - set the pressures when they're cold.

But I doubt there are any alternative springs or dampers.

Is it on low profile tyres?

Was the one you test drove better.

Was the one you test drove the same spec.

Ask to drive another car, if its better get them tosort yours,if it the same you are stuck because if you mess with the suspension its the end of Hyundais 5 year warranty.

In the Car-by-Car Review, HJ comments "The 2WD base model on 225/60 R17 tyres is noticeably more refined than the 4WD premium model on 225/55 R18s. The penalty is that it lets go at the front a bit early on rain-slicked roundabouts. On bumpy, rutted, pot-holed country road corners it's better, but this is not a car you push into bends. As a two-wheel drive, it gets to 60mph in a shade under 10 seconds and is capable of 50mpg. In contrast, the 4WD hangs on better at the penalty of more noise".

So, is it possible you test drove the base model but bought a Premium, with different size tyres.

It may also depend on the make of tyres fitted as OE - my Santa Fe had Kumho's which were pants in most respects - later models seem to come on Hankooks. Thankfully I've now dumped the Kumho's and fitted Pirelli's (Scorpion Verde All-Season)

We test drove a ix35 CRDi 4x4 Premium when they first came on the market and found it to be a great car. Only thing that prevented us from buying was the predicted delivery date.

It was quiet, comfortable (even on the 18" rims), the engine was great and it handled nicely. At the time we had a C-Max which was a well regarded car for ride and handling and we did not find the ride poor, we had it for 1/2 a day and used it on all types of roads.

Would be on my short list if we were buying now (provided the dealer can get them).
