My car has done less than 99,000 miles and drives beautifully. BUT when starting from COLD there is quite a loud rattle from the top of the engine which lasts for a second or two at the most, and then vanishes. There is no problem when starting the engine hot, only when cold. It has been suggested this may be worn variable valve timing units. Do you have any experience of this problem, and what may be the cure.
