I'd blame the guy in front.......

If you look closely, you can see what appears to be a white van at the back. Perhaps everyone else was stationary, and he was going at his usual speed when he met them?

You mean like billiard balls.......

Hardly surprising is it?

Saw this on the news, this was just silly.

One shot I saw showed a Vauxhall Astra on top of TWO other vehicles. TWO!

They don't need to do a mass investigation because we already know the cause. It's the same as the M5 crash a couple of years ago; people driving too close to the thing in front, even when they can't see where they're going.

But because there is no ongoing driver training programme, most people will continue to drive in exactly the same way...

Its going to be the same old story at renewal time. There were many claims last year so all premiums have gone up.

Well, What a surprise. Seems their blind faith in ABS and EBD was not as they expected.

Insurance companies will use any excuse to raise a policy. just a couple of months back they said insurance prices were going to drop due to a crack down on insurance fraud and yet my renewal cost has increased. I must invest in shares in an insurance company!

Maybe it was all part of a crash for cash scam....;)

It's not driver training that's needed it's common sense. Maybe it's about time they started banning the drivers shown to be at fault in these accidents as a matter of course. There is clearly a lack of driver ability and sense involved which makes them a danger to all other road users.

"Another witness told the BBC visibility was very poor but drivers were approaching the crossing with no lights."

an all too common problem. Dark rainy days, dark coloured tarmac, people with dark coloured cars with no lights (or just parking lights). Lots of them about today.

Stoooopid!!!!!

This will have no or very very little effect on Insurance premiums, there are hundreds of injury claims every day and many many thousands a year so the potentially few hundred injury claims from this incident are a drop in the ocean

Insurance to go up again! - balleballe

Originally caused by probably a slow/overly cautious driver, perhaps with failing vision and someone who doesnt know how to keep a decent distance

I remember last time there was some fog a few months ago - I had a stoppind distance of around 4 cars length from the car in front, next thing you know I was up their backside as they had slowed from 40mph to something like 15mph! (I was doing around 30)

Just renewed both mine with a combined saving over last year of £52. Another year on year saving.

Lower excess increased Personal Accident Coverage and Protected discounts.

Plus two more free meerkats. As ever the advice is shop around hard and most likely you will be changing companies annually. Only a chump accepts the price he is given first without checking others.

Don't be a chump.

I renewed mine in July. Since I last did my insurance I've had 3 points for an SP30.

My punishment?

A £102 discount.

That more than cancels out the fine!
