Ford Fusion 1.4 petrol - Ford Fusion noisy transmission. - Wackyracer

We have a Ford Fusion 1.4 Petrol 2008 model and the transmission sounds like it is running dry, Is this normal for these? I'm going to be checking the Transmission oil level at the weekend just incase.
