VW Passat Estate - Silverdale Cars - tyred

I know that there has been previous queries about this company, but the last was in 2009. Has anybody any up to date experience?

I bought from Silverdale in May (?) this year, 2013. I did post my opinions on the end of an old Silverdale thread, on this forum.

I bought a Mondeo Estate Titanium X. About 10 months old, 9K miles. All done over the phone. I knew what model I wanted and phoned Silverdale (got their name from a Google search). Spoke with Ross who said he has access to cars that are out on contract hire/fleets/etc. He offered me 4 that met my spec, along with full details. He said that it would take 7/10 days to get the car in, check it over, etc. Sure enough, I got a call a week later saying the car was ready. I could either collect or they would deliver. Either way there was no committment to buy until I'd checked the car over myself.

I asked them to deliver. It arrived on a small transporter. Looked good "as decribed". Two new front tyres (yes, after 9K miles), full valet.I took it for a spin. It all worked. Paid the driver and that was that. About £1500 less that I could haggle with any local dealer

Not the way that everyone might want to buy a car but it's now done 15K miles without any problem. Based on this one experience, I would recommend Silverdale.

(Edit - sorry Tony, we had a complaint so I had to remove the (needlessly offensive) post above, which you were replying to. As a dealer yourself, I know you'll understand that it's quite out of order to accuse a dealer of clocking - a criminal offence - without any evidence.)

Heavy car, heard use = heavy wear on front tyres (just like my S-Max) and little wear on the rear.

Not unreasonable to swap over front to rear. Front tyres may look new, but could be the rears smartened up? Dont be so cautious Collos!
