Audi - Audi rear indicators - dan86

Tis is my first post so sorry if this has been done before.

Is it just me or are the rear indicators on new Audi cars to small?

I was following a a4 thismorning and I didbt see the right hand indicator untill it was stoped and I was fairly close behind it and later this evening there was a broken down Audi a4 with its hazards on and I dont think many people saw them untill up close.

What are people thoughts on these small rear indicators?

Audis have indicators?! I thought Audi and BMW made savings by not fitting indicators to their cars; I've never seen them used.

This was my initial thought lol

It's quite a well known symptom. Tends to be a weakness linked to the nut behind the steering wheel.

Not sure if there will be a recall or service bulletin.

Not sure about Audi's but iI have noticed on ts recent VAG stablemate Golfs, Passats and Jetta's the LED indicators are difficult to see in daylight when the rear brake light is showing.

It seems to be an issue with LED lights.

100% agree. Stupidly small invisible indicators are dangerous imo.

You would of thought with all the EU ruels about lights on cars they wouldn't have alowed such small and dangerous rear indicators to b approved.

The facelifted Civic is one of the worst. A tiny triangle of orange light.

Lorries are some of the worst offenders for small rear lights. The fronts are lit up like Christmas trees in any number of supposedly legal colours. However, the rear lights are pathetic in many cases.

Only stipulations are the angle of view, spacing, wattage and have an approval mark or be "Such that the light is plainly visible from a reasonable distance".

This subject has been broached before, and myself I have no difficulty seeing indicators on all vehicles (although, if I did have difficulty, I wouldn't have seen them so I wouldn't know that I hadn't).

My suggestion last time was that people who have difficulty, should perhaps, see an optician. It's not facetious, I'm not blessed with eagle like vision, it's just an observation.

I dont need glasses I have excellent eyesight and can in good daylight see a number plate from over 20 meters.

Likewise I have excellent corrected vision, tested annually and due to a medical condition I have a annual retinal photography examination. Is your eyesight tested as much? Thought not..

So when I tell you there's 'nowt wrong wiv me peepers sonny' you can take it to the bank.

A lot of Audi indicators and some VAG ones are placing 'cool styling' ahead of safety and their obligation to other road users to make sure their vehicles are making clear unambiguos indications. Now couple that with some buffoons who don't bother even using them....cruuuunch!

No my eyesight is not so painstakingly tested, just an annual NHS check. But there again, I do not have any difficulty seeing indicators.

It's VAG - there can never be a problem with their cars

They'll only listen if it's potentially life threatning and Vosa has to get involved (like the injector issues)

Vosa should never have got involved in that spat. It's poor customer aftersales care, nothing else.
