Nissan Micra - Timing Chain - westburry

Hi

Grateful of some advice.....

Looking to replace Timing chain on Nissan Micra 1.0litre 1998.

Could anyone advise if crankshaft pulley bolt loosens to the left or right.

Also

Is it possible for the cylinder head gasket to leak after replacing Timing chain ?

Grateful of any advice !!

Thanks

Patrick

Is it possible for the cylinder head gasket to leak after replacing Timing chain ?

Of course it is.

Replacing a timing chain or belt does not disturb the head in any way.

If the head gasket is going to have issues it will do so regardless if work to the timing mechanism.

Why do you think it's necessary to undo the crankshaft bolt to replace the timing chain on this model?

I did one of those and in retrospect a ll it needed was the middle chain wheel, the two cam chain wheels, chain and tensioner. The bottom part of the system was fine.

I subsequently learned they'll happily rattle away for years with no il effects.

Isn't the car worth less than the aggro?
