Car with Co2 less than 95 - MokkaMan

I have to organise a diesel car for someone at work. The Directors want to maximise the tax benefits and get 100% capital allowances and so it has to have Co2 emissions at 95 or under.

I know that you can get a Corsa, Fiesta, Rio and I20 at these emissions. Ideally we would like a nearly new / demonstrator at £10-£12k.

Any recommendations on what would be easiest to live with - I have already explained that the acceleration will be poor on these vehicles

Thanks

Does it have to be diesel?

If not, Toyota Yaris Hybrid would be a far better bet, if you're after an easy life.

Thanks but the Yaris Hybrid will probably still be a bit expensive for our £10-£12 budget

There are five Yaris Hybrids within your budget on autotrader, all from Toyota dealers.

They all have less than 12,000 miles from new, some have the expensive Touch & Go Navigation system too. which is a pretty darn good system as a matter of fact.

Renault Twingo dci - CO2 emissions at 85.

As a second car/urban runabout our petrol i20 does exactly what we bought it for and for the money the mid spec model is very well equipped. The 5 year warranty can also not be sniffed at.

However I couldn't live with it for longer trips on a day to day basis. The seats don't provide enough lumbar support, the clutch is quite heavy and the electric power steering has some wierd characteristics.

I looked into this 100% capital allowance for business purchase when I set up my company earlier this year. I'm fairly sure that to qualify, the car has to be brand new at the time of purchase.

Worth double checking with HMRC.

If it turns out you can buy used, then a Toyota Prius T3 is your best bet, with CO2 of 89g/km. The T4 and T-Spirit have bigger wheels and higher emissions. Not diesel of course but far more refined and comfortable than a tiny hatch and 45-50 MPG in the real world.

Yes you are right it has to be a new car!

What about a Corsa - seems reasonably priced and has reasonable performance. The Rio/I20 seem slow and the Fiesta seems a bit expensive.

I appreciate it will all be a bit of a compromise

The Corsa is no longer top of its game, that accolade goes to the Fiesta currently, so paying the extra gets a better all round car.

The Rio is pretty well thought of, the i20 is very similar. None are bad cars.
