does anyone have any pearls of wisdom for removing the mirror glass from a 308 with power folding / heated mirrors?

the nearside mirror has stopped folding now, depsite hearing clicks from inside the mirror when both locking and unlocking the car

i'd like to look inside the mirror for any obvious looseness etc before commiting to replacing it or anything more scary like that but can't quite see how to unclip the mirror glass base from the movement inside. i don't really want to trash the whole thing just to look!

any photos or tips would be helpful
