Im told all Fiats are now non interferance.
Have all manufacturers now gone to non interferance should the cam belt snap?
I would have thought it was the other way round. To get in the lower tax bands and reduce emissions there is little choice but to run things at their optimum - with pistons and valves sharing the same space, but hopefully not at the same time!.
Yes. Non interference requires either:
a.) low compression ratio
b.) Huge valve relief cut-outs in the piston crown. The former is bad for efficiency, the latter for emissions.
Either is undesirable for OEMs.
