vw polo 1.2 - cost for changing timing chain - SarahBeth

I bought a 53 plate 1.2 vw polo 2 weeks ago, 57k on the clock and cost £2900. Yesterday one of the front spings broke but i'm more concerned that it has failed to start 3 times and it sounds like it needs a new timing chain kit. It is going back to their garage on tuesday, but will i have to pay for the repair or should the garage be liable? (it came with 3 month warranty) How much is it likely to cost if i have to pay? I'd be really greatful for any advice.

Polo 1.2 of this age are not a good purchase.The engines are very troublesome.To replace the timing chain on these is very time consuming and would probably cost in the region of £4-500 ..The garage should do it FOC.

Hmm wish I had known this a year ago !

Now to my cost of collecting car home from Newcastle to Elgin I am about to renew the chain , fortunately its only stretched and prevents the car from accelerating when warm.
