L-reg Nissan Micra has soaking carpets in driver's footwell. I've had the carpet up but there's no obvious point of ingress for the water and no sign of corrosion underneath. Has anyone else encountered this phenomenon?

I used to have a K-reg Micra which used to let water into the passenger footwell. I tried playing a hose on the car, but couldn't see water coming in. Took it to a Nissan dealer, and they changed some seals around the passenger door; this didn't fix the problem. I the end I just had to live with the problem.

Thanks - I'll try a few angles myself before going to Mr. Nissan.

Not wishing to state the obvious nor do I know your model exactly, but have you checked whether water can come in via the ventilation air intake / bonnet mounted grille? I had this problem many years ago (Cortina I think) - suddenly my passenger got a cold wet ankle.

Maybe - recent seriously heavy rain & car parked nose-up on the drive - I'll take a look.
Thanks

I had a similar problem on a different car.
In that case it was a leak from the windscreen running down into the footwell.
It took a long time to find the offending area!

Forgot to mention: the 'cold wet ankle syndrome' would happen also to me on the driver's side, and often when it wasn't actually raining, but had rained recently. Water would have entered via the air vent, then collected in part of the ventilation system, only to run out when the car went up or down a hill or round a corner. Baffling at the time.

it might be water in door, see if the drain hole is blocked.
or it could be the heater leaking.

Could be coming through the bulkhead? All cables and connections for the electrics and controls must come thru the bulkhead to the driver's controls, Usually they are holes, sealed by a rubber washer or grommet with a small hole in the middle thru which the wire, control or whatever is passed. These can perish or loosen in their seating and water can get thru - had this years ago in a Sierra (also parked nose up a slope). I sealed the gaps with clear mastic from a DIY shop and all was well.

Check for detritus (leaves n stuff) in the bottom of the drains for the bulkhead under the bonnet (usually)as everyone says this could be coming in via the heater ducting, also worth considering Sun roof drains if applicable, sometimes these come out via sills and they can block too. Finally and just in case... its not coolant from weeping heater matrix is it?
