Nissan Micra K12 - Micra 1.0 2003 -engine turning over but not firing - cherry1980
Hi I've seen a Nissan Micra 1.0 E 2003 for sale. It's on at £350. Says engine turns over but not firing and diagnostic by aa says its cam sensor.

Has done 54000 miles. Mot expires on Friday. Has previous mots. Is it worth buying? Ay ideas as to how much it will take to repair?

Probably find that the sensor is fine and the camshaft isn't turning...

Cam sensor is a cheap part. Why wouldn't the vendor replace the cam sensor and sell the car for three times as much?

He says it doesn't start.

Not sure but read it might be timing chain as know they are bad in this model. Is this likely?

K12 Micra+cam sensor fault+non start = timing chain problems and an expensive fix.hth

The fault on this car will be the timing chain worn it always shows as cam sensor and will be caused by lack of oil changes. Avoid !
