2004 Hyundai Getz - Timing chain or belt? 2004 Hyundai Getz - echobeech

Hi there, I've been told by a couple of garages now that my 2004 Hyundai Getz 1.3 CDX Automatic has a timing chain instead of a belt and therefore there is no need to replace anything at the 60,000 mile point.

I keep getting mixed results online and just wanted to clarify this with anyone who may be able to give a more definitive response if possible please? The manual and looking under the bonnet suggests a belt may be more likely...

Many thanks.

That’s a chain on this engine .

Thanks for your reply. We're getting mixed responses as another mechanic has just checked the reg number, HK54 USP, and says it's a belt!

Is there something in particular about this engine or model, or something you've seen in the photos, that makes you think it's a chain? Thanks so much

Looks like it could be either depending on engine type . But looking at the photo , if the cam cover on the left is plastic, then it’s likely to be a belt . Get the garage to take a look to confirm

Thanks - confirmed as best I can that it's a belt now, especially with plastic casing.
