Last friday we wnt off to Mersea island to eat at "Seafood at Dawn " ...... In case anyone not too far away likes seafood at very reasonable prices......

Anyway, cooling was not at its best so booked it in yesterday and £129.98 later we have nice cool air ready for the trek to York on Sunday.

I understand the environmental benefits of R1234yf gas over the old R134a, but I always get the feeling it’s not as effective at delivering cold air as its predecessor.
And it’s a damned sight more expensive - £65 to regas a couple of our old cars over the past few weeks.

Regas at 4 years old? Sorry to say it’s got a leak somewhere. Sadly the new r1234yf gas is proving to be difficult to be retained in the ac system. I’ve got a 20 year old Focus I bought 10 years ago still blows ice cold air and I’ve never serviced the ac system.

AS I have mentioned before, the korando was built in Dec 2010 and not registered till end Sept 2021, so already 21 months old by that time.

I have the report about what was extracted etc and what was replaced.

I'm not complaining at all.

Orb. OT but if you are heading to York using the A1/A64 it's Leeds Festival this weekend at Bramham Park, which is just north of A1, A64 junction.

Traffic shouldn't be too bad as most campers will be there from tomorrow, but some do go just for a day, Traffic management is in place on the A64.

If you want to avoid potential problems consider A1 to M62, east to Eggborough, then A19 to York via Selby bypass.

Orb, just got mine back. New a/c compressor and those are a bit steep on an EV.

Luckily Vx agreed with me it ought not have failed so soon and gave me 75% of the parts cost. Still 580 quid but that's getting off very lightly indeed.

Same here. 23 year old Ford. Aircon has never been touched and it works very well. Mind you I use the aircon just about every time I drive the car winter and summer. I think that helps it.

Sitting around for nearly 2 years can't have done the AC much good.

The AC in my Astra still blows cold after 9 years. Whether it's as cold as it was when new I don't know, but it's more than cold enough. £130 seems a bit OTT. A bit of shopping around would have got that below a ton.

Vauxhalls always had good AC, I think it’s a bonus of being part of GM in that era, didn’t GM used to own frigidaire or similar?
