2012 Megane 3 1.6dci (six speed, if it makes any difference).
Every now and again it’ll go through a phase of now wanting to start. Message on the dash is ‘Press Clutch to Start’. Needless to say, the clutch is pressed. But no starter action.
I’m guessing it’s the contortionist requirement of the clutch pedal switch gone wrong.
Coincidentally, or maybe not, I picked the car up about a month ago after it had been parked up for a few weeks and the reversing lights aren’t working.
Potentially the same, or connected, issue?

Could be connected . There’s a sensor in the gearbox that does neutral gear position and reverse lights . When it. Doesn’t start , have you tried pressing the brake pedal ?
|
Yes to trying the brake pedal, no joy.
In previous episodes it has displayed ‘Press Brake Pedal’ and started, but not this time.
I have before now disconnected the clutch switch and it started, but I had no cruise control. That’s important as it’s pretty much only used for long trips.
For the price of the pedal switch (peanuts), I’ll start to limber up and get into the footwell.

Not convinced a clutch switch will fix this . My experience with these , is the more common problem the neutral position switch on the gearbox.
|
Thanks, I’ll have a look and see if it’s accessible.
|
Not easy . It’s at the bottom of the gearbox , by the left hand drive shaft.

Sounds like a job for a friendly AA patrol.
