Dash cam wiring - Lrac

just wondering if anyone can recommend a supplier for a very short feed wire for a dash cam. My car MG HS Hybrid . The car was manufactured with a feed socket behind the mirror. I have not yet decided which cam to buy but I would like to know that I don't have to hide miles of wire when I do make my mind up. I only want a forward facing camera and quite like the look of Viofo 119 2

Thanks in advance

Have a look at 'nextbase' cameras, I know they do a range of leads for there cam's and there mounting system can't be beat imho...

couldn't say for sure but initially looks like the same "socket" in the bottom of my year old android phone. I shall see if my charger lead fits when my wife brings the car back after performing father in law duties.

Could be a usb “C “ type socket

Most dashcams I've seen or owned use the USB MINI socket.

So if you have a regular USB socket nearby, this might be what you need:

Unless you're driving a folding roof cabriolet, you can usually hide any extra cable length in the roof headlining

I recently fitted a Viofo 119 V3 to my car.

It is supplied with a 0.5m cable the same as Gibbo has mentioned.

This connects to a computer but could be used to connect the camera to a USB A socket in a car. There is also a longer cable to use with a cigar lighter socket together with self adhesive wirng clips and a tool to lift trim to hide wires.

I'm very pleased with this camera and recommend buying the Polarizing lens filter and a very high quality 128GB micro SD card (SanDisk Extreme or higher)

If your MG HS Hybrid has a power socket behind the rearview mirror, you'll want an ultra-short USB cable to neatly connect your dash cam without excess wiring. For the Viofo A119 Mini 2 (or similar models), your best option is Viofo's own 15cm (6-inch) USB-C cable, specifically designed for this purpose. This compact cable provides a clean, OEM-style installation with no loose wires to tuck away. You can purchase it directly from Viofo's official store on Amazon or AliExpress—just search for "Viofo 15cm USB-C cable." If you prefer an alternative, third-party retailers like DashCamStore or BlackBoxMyCar may offer similar short cables, but ensure compatibility with your chosen dash cam. Since your car already has a powered mirror mount, this setup eliminates the need for hardwiring or routing cables through the headliner. Once you've selected your dash cam, measure the exact distance between the socket and camera to confirm the 15cm length works for your MG's layout. This approach keeps your installation sleek and hassle-free while maintaining full functionality.
