Ford Puma - Ford warranty advice please - Rich247
Please excuse my ignorance but would like some advice before I speak to my main dealer where I purchased my ford puma 8 months ago.

I purchased a used 2023 ford puma from a ford dealership in Essex about 8/9 months ago. I have recently noticed that there seems to be an issue with the gearbox and 2nd gear very occasionally doesn’t seem to engage properly. Before I take this further I was wondering if this is something likely to be covered under the three year ford warranty (if a problem is identified) the car has only done 13000 miles. Like a Wally I can’t find any of the paperwork when I bought the car and would just like a heads up before I call the garage. I know this is a little general but has anyone got any info on the ford warranty side of things and if there is an issue how likely it would be covered? Hope this makes sense?
Many thanks

Ford Warranty is 12 months by Ford and a no charge 24 month insurance warranty.

A gearbox problem on say an 18 month & 13K mile gearbox issue will be covered.

My limited experience of gearbox issues in warranty was OK on the 2 occasions. Gearbox out, stripped, parts ordered and back on the road after 5 days on first & 3 days on second. Both cars were under 6 months old when bought, faults develop after 2/3 months ownership - both ex-rental - sold with 6 figure mileages roughly 7 years later.

Both had similar symptoms of getting into 2nd gear issue.

IIRC it was 1st & 2nd gears + synchromesh cogs chewed up - around 30 years ago.

Beware the Ford 12 + 24 month warranty.

Its Fords cynical way of avoiding the Block Exemption rules that allows you to service outside a manufacturer network providing you ensure the work is done exactly to schedule using the correct parts and lubricants and have a detailed invoice to prove it.

The Block Exemption does not cover non-manufacturer warranty's and to maintain cover you MUST dealer service.

Does your car have a full Ford service history? if it doesn't you might not be lucky.

Looks like you’ve got 2nd gear synchromesh failure. Sadly not uncommon on Puma and Firsta models . Hopefully the warranty will cover this , otherwise it’s an expensive repair.

Thank you for all your reply’s, I really do appreciate it.

I have contacted Ford and my car is under warranty until next year so I have booked in later this week to get the issue hopefully resolved.

Thanks again
