SEAT Ibiza - Engine management light on - Ajm20

Hi ive bought a car which shows engine management light on, the sensors in the exhaust are I believe where its diognostics check should bring up anything? Any idea what it could be. And how much to do this if take to a garage please

Engine malfunction light covers a thousand and one possible faults. You can’t guess. Take it to a garage to let them check it out.

Doesn't sound a very good move on the face of it, if it was on when you bought it.

If you bought it recently, from a trader, I'd think you might have legal grounds to un-buy it, if it isn't something trivially fixed.
