SEAT Arona 1.5 TSI - bored car - maz64

Our 2018 Arona with the VAG 150ps 1.5 turbo petrol engine has started 'sighing' when you lift off the gas. It sounds like the sort of noise you might imagine air escaping out of a hole in a pipe might make. Anyone experienced anything similar and/or know what might be causing it?

It doesn't seem to be affecting performance to a noticeable degree, and we'll be booking it into a trusted local garage soon. Have considered taking it to the local SEAT dealership, but I'm not convinced it requires specialist knowledge.

Probably a split turbo hose.

Thanks. Assuming it is, not too big/expensive a job to fix?

Hose had just become unclipped apparently - might have been something I could have fixed myself I guess, assuming I could find it. Garage (Meads of Melksham) didn't charge.

I pass that way now and again, good to hear feedback. Sounds like a garage to use in the future.

Glad it’s fixed . These hoses don’t come apart in a hurry, I suspect it was not pushed fully “home “ to start with.

Good, easy fix. The factory hose clamps on the boost pipes on most turbo cars are designed for ease of assembly on the production line rather than long-term robustness.

VW group cars used to use a C-clip system which allowed the boost hoses a fair bit of 'wiggle' where the hoses mounted on the stubs, my old Passat started blowing off the hose from turbo to intercooler on a regular basis because the 'ears' on the hose had got fretted away a little and the clip couldn't hold the hose in place properly. Give me a proper T-bolt screw clamp any day.

I didn't hear any sighing, but something similar happened to my 207SW - turbo intake had worked loose. Only noticeable effect was sluggish throttle response. My local indie didn't charge either, but I gave him a tenner.

I assumed from the title that you'd had the cylinders bored out, which I didn't think was a thing any more.

Now I'm un-surprised, but still a bit disappointed.
