Audi e-tron - charging fully elec vehicle - london123

question related to charging rather than specific to the audi e-tron. If I only do around 300 miles a month and I had a fully electric car with a range of around 300 miles, would I expect 1-2 charges a month, or if I just do very low mileage over 1-2 weeks would the charge sill last a month ? any views or experience on this ? thanks

I had a BMW 225 plug-in hybrid for three years, and the main traction battery in that did not drain significantly when the car was sat unused for a few days.

I think the longest it went without being driven was four days, and I'm pretty sure it lost no more than 2 or 3% of charge in that time.

Depends on the power needs of the car when not running.

I know Teslas need charge as power is used for battery management, in particular maintaining the temperature. Not much of an issue in the UK, but in hotter climates the batteries have to be kept cool.

I understand that these batteries have a best chance of long life if they’re kept between 80% and 20% charge. Apparently a deep discharge toward zero or charging fully to 100% is not the best way for battery longevity.

If the above is correct, a couple of charges a month would seem to be best. Anyone heard any different about Bev battery management?

How do they behave in cold climates ? Lead-acid batteries need some help, so I guess others will too ?

Doesn't make much difference when the car is just sitting parked, but ambient temps below 10 celsius definitely impact on range when driving. My 225's battery range was around 25% better in summer temps compared to typical winter temps.
