Bought used from up to 150 miles away (no need to travel further as i live in the midlands) as seen tried and tested with no intention or need to return the car should anything be found wanting.

Lots of considerations, rarity of the model, price range, value differences due to geography, possible corrosion issues for the same reason, buyers car assessment capability and ability to fix issues that may crop up.

One size does not fit all, for some people buying a fairly common car it would not be wise to travel far and generally they would not need to, for others it may be the only way to buy what they want, and for some others still considerable savings can be made when an uncommon vehicle is for sale in an area not its typical habitat.

Depends on the car.....I shouldn't need to travel too far for a fairly common make/model...but if I'm looking for something specific then distance is largely immaterial.

I traveled from south east London to Bristol before to look at and purchase e36 325i i t was the right colour and trim level with all the extras that I wanted. Private sale so no comeback any way and was cheaper than an equivalent car locally.

If I was buying from a deailer and it was a common car I'd buy fairly local incase of any issues or warranty issues

I remember this van, VERRRRRY well, as it was one of a pair, I bought from Yorkshire Water, back in 1995, when there was a severe drought and Yorkshire water had...no water. At the same tiem, they were de-fleeting, heavily and back then, was the single biggest cheque, I had written, at one sale - £32k.

It was an H reg LDV 200 van, and had covered only 11000 miles and was in excellent condition, for a five year old example.

So it made the trek, from Yorkshire, down to me, in Bedfordshire and sold, without being viewed, (boast of being proud of my reputation) to a St Albans based farming business.

The only thing was, the actual farm, where it had to be transported to, was in Inverness!!

Those few trips, were the longest journeys, it would ever make, I'd imagine.
