I’m sure one has a free bus pass, so no need to worry about one.

It’s a big step. No pun intended.

I'm sure he's had a lot of practice at waving to get a bus to stop for him...

Good ploy Phil.

File now before CPS for decision re offence of due care and attention.

So he does the right thing and gets a barrage of snide comments, how petty.

"So he does the right thing..."

Eventually. With a strong feeling he might have jumped just before he was pushed.

I am stumped to think of a case where the prosecution of a 97 year old is ever in the public interest, seeing as the pressure and emotional turmoil in itself could hasten the end of someone's life. It was a relatively lucky escape, with minor injuries: a distraction and a moment's lapse in concentration could happen to any one of us. As Frankie Howerd used to say - "It could be one of your own!"

I'm amazed he's driven till 97!...but he's a special case.

What's interesting is that there must be many more , far younger, who have chucked away their keys and torn up their licence , if only because they were fed up to the back teeth with traffic jams and being unable to find anywhere to park.

I suspect most 97 year olds have given up driving long before because they didn't have the money for enjoyable vehicles (there really is little more grim to drive or be in than modern small cars), nor serious armed bodyguards/escorts making sure none of the thousands of road-bullies get within viewing distance, nor being able to drive on hundreds of miles of almost empty roads on their own land.

I don't begrudge HRH anything by the way and i take no pleasure at all in seeing his driving days ending, have a great deal of respect for the man, and his wife, and daughter Anne, none too sure about the rest of them tbh.

I must be unusually lucky. I’ve been to Bristol from Winchester and back today, took the A34 and M4 there and cross country back in my Argo, nice really enjoyable drive both ways, nothing grim about it. Equally had a lovely drive on Saturday from Winchester to Lulworth Cove and back in my Mustang. Maybe I just like driving.
