Interesting. But can't find any reference to Tungsten Carbide coatings on the Bosch UK website.

uk.bosch-automotive.com/en_GB/parts_and_accessorie...#

Can you provide a pointer to where one can obtain these please?

Thanks.

The Bosch disc with the WC coating is called the idisc. No sign of them being marketed yet, though.

Ah thanks, that explains it then. But what does 'WC coating' mean here? Or is that a Gerrman acronym for Tungsten carbide?

WC is the chemical formula, W for tungsten and C for carbon.

PDG, Lyndhurst is a wind up merchant.

They say " I see only disadvantages: many disadvantages. ...I accept they are safer in collisions ". Make up your mind - only disadvantages or is safety not an advantage.

The person with the Mercedes A170 should get shot of it quickly. My mum sold her very troublesome, unreliable and expensive to maintain A170 CVT. The transmission had a very similar, very expensive failure which according to the local MB indie is inevitable on these. Ours was an expensive nightmare. Most electrical components (fuel pump, starter etc) which we had go can only be replaced with ludicrously expensive genuine parts.

In our experience 'legendary' Mercedes-Benz longevity and reliability is a complete myth. It was replaced with a much more reliable and cheaper to maintain Toyota Yaris.

It is called marketing. An average car previously developed with Chrysler designed and built to be as cheaply made as possible.Volkswagen seem to be going the same way.The 'Legendary' Mercedes quality would apply to a S class of the eighties, before the cost accountants stepped in.

This website is confused about its Porsches. The 2012 - 2016 Boxster is the 981, not the 988, which is a supercar not yet launched. The error originates on the 'Car by Car' page, www.honestjohn.co.uk/carbycar/porsche/boxster-988-.../

Yep. That’s our mistake. We will correct that. Thanks for the spot

One reason for the popularity of SUVs is that they provide an easier ride on the 'Third World' roads we endure in the UK.
