Is it worth repairing?

To answer your question...

How bad is it?

Do you have a full up to date service history?

Are you intending to keeo the car?

Does it irritate you?

If the answers are mostly yes, get a quote from chips away or a mobile dent repairer,, (google is your friend) and if it is cost effective... How much do you want to spend?

No one can answer that for you...

The only person that can answer your question is you. Go to your nearest car body repair shop and get a quote, or get in touch with one of the mobile outfits like oldroverboy mentions. Once you get a price, then you can decide.

An alternative would be to go to your nearest vehicle breaker, you may get lucky and find they can sell you a rear bumper cover in the same coulour as your car, in which case all you need to do is swap them over, which is unlikely to involve more than half a dozen small screws or bolts.

Personally, i wouldn't bother, actual bumper is hidden behind. and seperate from the bumper cover, which is the bit that is scratched. It is plastic, so it aint going to rust.

Personally I could not recommend Chips Away.
They made a complete mess of my new Audi a few years ago

Pay a little more and go to a local dealer approved paint shop.
They can make it new again

Depends on you. I like things just so.

i was recommended an alternative of a Smart Repairer, based in a industrial unit, so no issues with the weather - a few quid more than chips away but good enough to escape WBAC's UV examination and pay top price.

I tend to be fussy about stuff like that, possibly as a consequence of historical OCD.

A few weeks after I bought my unmarked 13 plate B Max, I noticed a scratch on the offside rear wing. Not down to the metal, but still visible as Hell, especially to someone who tends to focus on such things to the exclusion of almost anything else. Probably caused by a stray branch on a thorny bush when I parked on the driveway next to my brother's somewhat unkempt Yorkshire front garden.

However, I take great pride in the fact that instead of paying someone to fix it, for say, 50 or 60 quid, I deluged it with Colour Magic to the extent where it became not invisible, but largely ignorable.

As others have said, its up to you. Depends how much it annoys you and if the answer is "a lot", then the next variable to consider is the level of willpower you can muster to ignore it. If you're short in that area, get it done.

I would use a local reputable smart repairer. To be honest, I know of many work colleagues over the years who have used both Chips Away, Dent Devils and other smart repairers, and all found them fine - as they are franchises, I think, the quality of the work seems to vary from contractor to contractor. Maybe you were unlucky to get a not-so-good operative (I hope you reported them back to their HQ).

Main dealerships would be extortionate for the work if done in-house - I would check to see if they use a smart repairer themselves and go with them (after ringing round a few local ones for quotes to price match if you can), if you trust your dealer.

If your description (in the thread title) is accurate, my simple answer is no. Bumpers are there to absorb scratch-inducing impacts. If it's more than a 'scratch' or it offends your ideal of perfection, have it fixed. The car is 7 years old and entitled to show a few battle scars, especially if you visit car parks regularly. If you are not planning to sell soon, do nothing.

True - its no as though its going to rust! Most sensible buyers of older cars go for the condition of the mechanicals and electrics, and, as long as the car isn't really beaten up with crash damage (as you say, the odd scratch, bonnet chip and door ding are nothing) and badly rusted, then most would go for it. Its not as though its a sought-after sports car or 'classic' (though still perfectly fine for the average Joe in the street) that needs to be in pristine condition to sell at a good price.
