Ford Mondeo - New CrossClimate sizes in 2018?? - the_bandit
Does anyone happen to know what new 19” sizes are being added to the Michelin CrossClimate range in 2018?

Thanks.

Email Michelin uk with your tyre size and load rating and they will tell you the month when they are coming out, if they are going to be made.

Have spoken to Michelin this morning. For the size I was interested in the answer is “non.”

There are now quite a lot of all-season alternatives to Michelin Cross Climate. Best to go to one of the online tyre retailes and piut in your tyre size (or with some, just your car number) and see what's available.

The Michelin CrossClimate is widely acclaimed as being better that conventional All-Season tyres. In design terms, it's a summer tyre to which winter optimisation has been added - whereas the Nokian Weatherproof is a winter snow tyre to which summer optimisation has been added.

Most of the other All-Seasons are simply compromises, so not as good in summer as a good summer tyre and not as good in winter as a good winter tyre.

All that said, I'm planning to get Vredestein Quatrac 5 SUV next time, which are All-Seasons.

Just fitted some Quatrac 5's (replacing Quatrac 3's which were down to 3 mm), seem good so far, but will have to wait for snow to see if they are any better than the 3's, which worked well.

Thanks for replies above.

Vredestein make a Quatrac 5 in the size I'm interested in but I think the gap between a true winter and an all-season is too great.

The graphical displays are all truncated (naturally enough, to start from zero would be impractical) but looking at the numeric figures the differences between most brands are not that great.

Good point about the charts.

Decided on Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4.

I ran a set of Quatrac 5's on a Superb I which were great both in summer and winter. I found them great in most conditions - the only issues wasn't handling or breaking but a touch of acceleration wheelspin in "rather moist" conditions. They were very quiet - and as for wear - I had them fitted at 160k miles and eventually sold the car to a friend who has since taken the car to 200k miles on the same tyres!

I have a set of Michelin Cross Climates on my Superb II (thus far very good) but I'd still fit Quatrac 5' if the Cross Climate wasn't available
