62 reg smart for2 cabriolet - Squeaky door hinge (s) - golfauto11

Hello,

Can anybody help me with the above problem??

It is with the drivers door. I have WD40d all hinges numerous times, but within 48 hours, the problem returns. It looks a big job to remove the front of the car, to get really good access to the hinges, and just wondering if there is an easier solution??

Thank you.

WD40 is good for displacing water but is not so good as a lubricant - thin oil will prevent squeaks much longer

WD40 now sell a whole range of lubricants, including white grease.

White grease is too thick to work its way into the hinge, spray grease is goof, it seems to soak in enough and stay in place a decent time, alternatively ok it may be a bit pongy but thick gear oil is also good for hinge use and takes a long time to be washed off.

White grease is the service garage's favourite because it's easily visible for the punter if they look.
