What mileage does your friend do?, what type of driver is he?, does he want manual or auto?, does he have a family?, does he have a big dog (or any other reason to need a big boot)?

Lots of options out there for that money, but need more info.

At that sort of mileage any car will be basically scrap after 3-4 years and most warranties will have expired after the 2nd year (100000 miles). The SsangYong Tivoli has an unlimited mileage 5 year warranty which is quite generous in covering some wear and tear items. I'd be tempted to get a top of the range brand new Tivoli or Tivoli XLV. Any second hand car is going to throw up the risk of of expensive wear and tear faults quickly, and most new cars from main stream manufacturers at that price are going to be fairly basic with a much more limited warranty

A quick google search brought up this https://www.carwow.co.uk/best/cars-with-good-warranties-0170

Assuming your friend plans to keep his car for a few years, the warranty is going to be the big factor.

He is kind of interested in Mercedes e220 Hybrid Bluetec 2014 and he wants to know more about the hybrid technology maintanance and if there are weak spots in this specific car... such as expensive parts that are likely to break. Also about these batteries... if they need changing at certain amount of time (how much would that be) and if they are too expensive.

According to the model history part of the honest John review, the e220 bluetec is not a hybrid, just a turbo diesel. The hybrid model was the e300. According to the good/bad section of the review, there were 2 noted problems with the hybrid, neither of which seem to have been rectified. It was also noted that replacing the battery pack would cost £9k. Either way, the e class is not an SUV.
