Makes sense to me. Simple old tech and cheap, exactly what you want in a taxi. Renault's petrol and older gen 1.5 dci engines are pretty robust if serviced regularly.
Always amazed at people who put an expensive premium brand car on as a taxi. As soon as it's registered as a taxi and plates go on it you wipe out almost all the value.
